I’ve been living in France for six years now. In everyday life, I’ve noticed that the French like very small, subtle things that you can hardly see, whereas other nationalities exaggerate and favor the noticeable. They attach great importance to the infinitesimal. In fact, they are able to express their thoughts and feelings in a light-hearted way. They are gifted at conveying their inner ideas and emotions to others in a natural way. Artists are no exception to the rule. In this group show, we discover five French artists and two Japanese artists who possess this French sensibility. Through their works, the aim is to understand how we look at Japan today. Japanese people don’t usually know how others look at their country. This information is very limited for them, and remains enigmatic. With these external artistic points of view, we’re going to show what remains invisible.
